Tolerant Britain is a pivotal one-of-a-kind initiative conceived in 2019 by not-for-profit organisation, Just Humanity.
Launching in September 2020, it’s a movement that calls for a more inclusive society.
Today, more than ever, there’s a loud-and-clear cry for change. Our aim is to reinforce diversity and inclusion as the standard. We look to address it through meaningful dialogue via channels that resonate, moving hearts and minds. To do that, we’ll need to connect with every member of British society where they are.
Tolerant Britain is a call to change minds, change behaviours and ultimately get rid of the intolerances that are holding back the country.
ON BRITISH SOCIETY
We don’t need to point out the divisions affecting our society today. Solution? Not plasters or promises, but real acceptance.
To get there, we’ll need a conversation that’s thought-provoking, sensitive and sensible.
We know that diverse organisations succeed. Businesses with strong Diversity and Inclusion values attract the best talent, are often prioritised in bidding processes and produce loyalty both with employees and customers. Sounds like a winning combination, doesn’t it?
We’re ready to lead and continuously refresh that conversation until it becomes the new normal. But to meet people everywhere they are, we need financial investment. We’re asking for partners to invest in this movement so together we can make a difference to the future of the UK. As a partnership, it’s a two-way street. Your return on investment will include campaign visibility and positioning to match your precise needs. Media coverage, social media, corporate, employee and nation-wide events are all part of the picture as we work on this vital shift.
Over the last few months we have markedly appreciated the value of those playing traditionally underpaid and underappreciated roles in our society. Overnight, the frontline and backend workers who make our day-to-day life possible, particularly the NHS, have become the real heroes of 2020 - we now see that our country would grind to a halt without them. There is a real opportunity to harness the current positive mindset and validate the value of those that keep the country going.
Conversely, the sad news from the US and subsequent raising of issues around racial inequality has quite rightly impacted British society too. Looking at these two current awakenings – it becomes obvious. We can’t wait for intolerances to resolve themselves. We need to take steps toward meaningful change now.
Over the last 5 years, hate crime has more than doubled according to UK Home Office figures, including an increase of 14% from 2017 to 2018. However, park the stats and just look around. It’s all there for us to see.
Conceived as a movement in 2019, but building as an idea long before, Tolerant Britain is the brainchild of the philanthropist Dr Tabassum Khan who founded Just Humanity Ltd to spearhead change on a global level. His origins in medicine, psychology and economics have been the springboard that powers a relentless passion to make the world a fairer and more inclusive place. Born in Pakistan, he comes from a heritage where the destructive impact of intolerance significantly affects all levels of society. Dr Khan’s determination for acceptance spans not just his homeland, but wherever prejudice exists.
IT’S ACRONYM TIME
The heart of the strategy lies in the ‘IRTA’ marketing model. Inspired by the classic ‘AIDA’ sales framework, it’s designed to lead audiences from initiation to behaviour change.

Of course, testing as we go will be an important piece of this work, telling us where we’re not getting it right so we can pivot and continue to move forward.
The well-received Tolerant Pakistan pilot inspired the determination to go global. Spearheaded by Just Humanity’s parent company, StratGurus Group, the goal of Tolerant Pakistan is to spread the message of tolerance across its diverse population from different sects, religions, castes and languages. To mark the start of the nation-wide campaign, a panel discussion held in Karachi in February 2020 featured prominent personalities including:
Najmuddin Sheikh, former Foreign Secretary of the Republic of Pakistan
Sarmad Ali, All Pakistan Newspapers Society Secretary-General
Najia Ashar, broadcast journalist and former Knight Fellow at Stanford University
Stefano Pontecorvo, Italian Ambassador to Pakistan
Garnering national coverage and social media buzz, Tolerant Pakistan has set the tone to continue the conversation this year and beyond.

By aligning with us as partner and ultimately, investor, you’ll be getting in on the ground floor of what will become a global rollout alongside other forward-thinking organisations who also see the significance of this country-wide step change.
Unlike many CSR initiatives, Tolerant Britain encompasses all people - but we’d be glad to chat about how we can specifically reach your target audience, no matter how niche.
We know this will take time and a regular cadence of messages that continue to evolve the conversation. Changing notions and practices won’t happen overnight, no matter how many clever campaigns we produce. So, in seeking investors we’re ideally seeking long term partners. But if that’s not where you are, no problem. We believe there’s a role to play for every organisation in the UK, every person. And piles of brand recognition to be gained.
If you’re game, let’s have a chat.

LET’S IMAGINE Once we’ve exchanged rings, how will we use your investment? We’ve created a solid, focused strategy steeped in the classic principles of marketing and communications. Together with its London-based partner consultancies led by New Journey Group, Just Humanity’s roll-out is designed to maximise traction, longevity and positive solutions.
The first step is to create media attention around the conversation. The ‘I’- Introduce - in IRTA. Autumn 2020 has been designated for this all-important phase, maximising reach and casting the net as wide as possible. We’ll look to maintain the conversation through media stories and social media as we gear up for a multi-part campaign to carry on the message in Nov 2020 with a goal of chipping away at the ‘R’-Recognise. We know it takes time to change mindsets, so we’re already working on campaigns for 2021 and well beyond to help us get to the ‘T’-Think and the ‘A’-Act.
In accordance with our ethos, we invite partners and stakeholders to align with our mission at any level of participation. At this very moment, we are undertaking a mountain of meaningful work to create the launch. Your support is critical - without it, our ambitions will never be realised. We are determined to shift the tide toward a more inclusive society. Ultimately, it’s our collective voices that will instigate change.
We’d love to discuss how you can best participate to connect to your target audiences. We fully expect this to be a lively discussion that generates significant dialogue and coverage.
